Human Resources Review - Big Finish Reviews 1 - The Cyberman Force Done Right.

Recently, in stories like Nightmare in Silver and Ascension of the Cybermen, the Cybermen have been treated like a big driving army force. Before, I hated this concept, as I didn't think that was what the Cybermen should be like. But then, I listened to the Paul McGann Big Finish Story, Human Resources.

It was 100% Perfect. Whilst giving the Cybermen a ruthless force, the Cybermen seek to 'upgrade' humans. They don't purposefully try to destroy the Humans like in the cyber-wars.

The Story goes like this. The Doctor's companion, Lucy Miller, wakes up in the workplace she thought she was going to before she materialised into the TARDIS in Blood of the Daleks. The Doctor is also there, and, as he investigates he finds strange things. Meanwhile, Lucy and her new found friend get fired. It turns out the office was actually a War Machine the whole time, and in one fell swoop, the Cybermen emerge out from the shadows and wow are they awesome. Then the credits roll and Part 1 is over

Firstly, the Cybermen make it very clear that they are here to upgrade, not kill. They land, then tell everyone basically to get ready for conversion, unless they are weak, in which Case they will be killed. See, Chibnall, this is what the Cybermen should do. I'm not saying every Cybersode should be creepy like World Enough and Time, because it shouldn't, but just keep some aspects of Body Horror and human conversion, and build a force off of that.

Human Resources is just fantastic, with a banger of a performance from Paul McGann, and everyone should listen to it.

Plus, it's actually on Spotify, so you don't need to pay £30 to Big Finish.

Definitely 10/10 from me. Outstanding.
